Character Credit

In a world that is out to make a buck, where the only currency that counts is the all-mighty dollar, it is refreshing to read about a company that relies on character for collateral...not wealth.

Unitus has taken on the responsibility of finding ways to reverse global poverty by offering small ($95-$200) loans to the more than 400 million families that qualify based on their poverty level. "Instead of the banker having to know everything about the client...the neighbors know a lot about each other and pick the good credit risks. What is character worth today? What ever happened to the hand-shake that got deals done? What happened to a man's word being solid? The problem is that people don't want to take the time to get to know you. They don't want to hear your story unless you have something to offer them. May that never be how I choose to evaluate others. As a human (sinner), I'm prone to look at the appearance first, but as a believer (forgiven) I'm commanded to seek out the heart...no mater what that takes.
